So a couple of weeks ago, myself and Carlinn made our way to the stunning 12 Apostles Hotel for a mid-week getaway, which not only included a night in one of their luxurious sea facing rooms, but a dinner and movie too.
The 12 Apostles Hotel is located just outside Camps Bay on the coastal road towards Hout Bay and has been around since the early 1800’s with a rich history behind it too.
Today though, it is one of Cape Town’s most beautifully located hotels, with a perfect view onto the Atlantic Ocean in the front, and a backyard looking onto the majestic 12 Apostles Mountain Range.
When myself and Carlinn arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff, who welcomed us with freshly made Ice Tea and once checked in, our bags were carried for us to our stunning sea facing room right on the far end of the hotel.
The room itself was amazing, with a bed that looked out over the water, 2 balconies, a separate lounge area and a bathroom with a unique range of bath and body products.
Once settled into our room, there was a knock at the door and it was a large selection of fresh fruits for us to nibble on.
After we indulged in the fruit, it was time to go do a few shoots around the hotel in the glamorous dresses that the amazing guys from Miss Friday YDE sent to her, which we shot at the top Rock Pool and then the second was at the Atlantic Pool, which looks onto the Atlantic Ocean and has a very nautical theme to it.
Taking photos can be hard work sometimes, so once we were done with all the shoots we made our way down to the 12 Apostles Spa, where we spent some time relaxing in their warm hydrotherapy pools.
The rest of the afternoon was spent catching up on some work for me and since the weather had taken a turn for the worse, I decided to work from their super comfy sofa in the lounge. Before long though, I had dozed off and woke up to with the sight of a sunset that I didn’t think would actually happen. It was beautiful and it made me think about how amazing it must be for guests that stay there when Cape Town really shows off with some of its spectacular shows that it puts on during the winter months.
Dinner time approached fast, but this only meant that both of us were getting super excited because romantic dinners are something we’ve loved sharing with each other for the last 13 years and since we’d eaten at Azure back in February, we couldn’t wait to sink our teeth into their delicious 3 course meal again.
For diner I had the Duck Liver Granola to start, followed by the Cape Malay Curry for a main. We didn’t manage to get to the desert because we’d just eaten far too much already, but not only that, I wanted to keep some space for the treats we’d be eating during our movie which followed dinner.
The movie we got to watch in the 12 Apostles Hotel 16 seater private cinema was a movie myself and Carlinn had not seen before called Blended, starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, and it was hilarious!
As mentioned above, I decided to not eat desert at Azure because I knew there would be snacks in the movie, but little did I know what we were in for because we were treated to Pop Corn, Milkshakes, Magnum Ice-Creams, jelly tots, sparkles, marshmallows and so much more!
Once the movie was done, so were we and we made our way back to the room giggling while talking about the funny moments in the movie. Once my head hit the pillow, I was pretty much passed out straight away and off to dreamland I went!
When we woke up the next morning, we made our way back to Azure again for their breakfast buffet, which blew our minds! There was a huge selection of cold meats, pastries, cereals and of course, oysters accompanied by sparkling wine. We also indulged in a hot breakfast of eggs benedict and which I HIGHLY recommend if you ever go.
All in all, the little getaway was amazing and when we had to say our final goodbye, it wasn’t a goodbye, but a farewell and see you again soon because we will be back!
